1998/99 - Wollongong Hawks

Their finest season since ’87, the Hawks finish third with a 16-10 record before succumbing to the Victoria Giants in the first-round of the play-offs. They farewell the Snakepit and move into the 6000-seat entertainment centre. CJ Bruton joins the club and goes on to win NBL’s Most Improved Player award, while Joyce is named coach of the year. David Anderson just misses out on rookie of the year honours before bolting to Europe, while acrobatic American forward Theron Wilson becomes a cult figure despite limited ability.
